Let’s talk about the slice. That big banana ball that peels off to the right (for right-handers), evading fairways like it’s dodging taxes. If you’ve ever muttered “fade” and watched your ball sail into a different zip code, this one’s for you.
Why You’re Slicing:
Your clubface is open at impact.
Your swing path is too steep or over-the-top.
Your grip might be too weak (and not in the protein shake kind of way).
Fix It Fast:
Check Your Grip: Rotate your lead hand slightly so you can see two to three knuckles. It’s called a neutral-to-strong grip, and it’ll help square the face.
Fix the Path: Feel like you’re swinging more “from the inside.” One simple cue? Pretend you're skipping a rock.
Control the Clubface: Practice half swings and feel the clubface closing naturally through impact.
Bonus Drill – “The Headcover Drill”Place a headcover just outside your target line behind the ball. If you hit it during the swing, you're coming too far over the top. Avoid the headcover = instant improvement.
